Feed Your Ancestors Daily, New Moon and Mahalaya
Tarpanam is a ritual that includes ‘feeding’ your ancestors with rice and sesame seeds that energetically reaches them. The purpose of doing this is to release ancestors to a higher plane. When they are fed and at peace, they are free to go into the light and send you their blessing.
You can do daily Tarpanam on your own. Follow either the short version or the long version of these simple instructions.
Choose which version of this ritual resonates with you. Dr. Pillai has suggested to at least practicing the longer version of the Tarpanam ritual during the New Moon phase each month.
Short Version Tarpanam Instructions
Perform either version anytime between sunrise to sunset once every day, especially on New Moon days. It is suggested to not perform Tarpanam during non-daylight time.
Long Version Tarpanam Instructions
Do it as often as possible on New Moon days.
The purpose of doing this is to release ancestors to a higher plane. When they go into the light they send you their blessing.
Access Your Ancestors’ Positive Energy Blessings
On the New Moon Day the departed spirits come to the earth plane and stay with their biological relatives from sunrise to sunset. Fasting during the New Moon day will alert your consciousness to be in communion with their spirits.
When living on the earth plane, even great Siddhas like Agastiya, Maha Rishis like Vasistha, Avatars like Krishna and Rama, appreciated their ancestors through rituals involving this tarpanam ‘food’.
Why Consider Your Departed Ancestors
At the deeper, metaphysical level, there are only two simple reasons for all of our mundane problems:
- Planetary influences
- Departed spirits’ influences
Take care of both of them in order to have a peaceful, fulfilling life.
Just as there is a biological lineage of transference of DNA along the family line, there is spirit lineage or Spirit DNA. Your departed ancestors can help solve your problems as well as create them.
Our ancestors live in the world of the Pitra Loka, meaning ancestral world. 64 generations of dead ancestors can help solve your money, relationship, health and other problems quite easily if one knows how to communicate and connect with them.
The Annual 15 Moons of ‘Mahalaya’: The Ancestors’ Time
The earth plane was designed as a laboratory for the evolution of souls. Great enlightened beings who have turned their body into light visit the earth daily in their light form. All of our ancestors come and stay on the earth plane for 15 days in a year. During these fifteen days they stay in your body, mind and soul and can change all three positively. Not even Gods can do what the ancestors can do for you. In fact, Gods ask you to go through your ancestors for blessings.
It is best if we fast but there is no fasting for our Ancestors however as they crave a special food as mentioned in the home Tarpanam instructions. These offerings need to be given to them sincerely and conscientiously for all the 15 Moons.
These 15 Moons start from September 13th night, right after the full moon and ends on the Mahalaya New Moon Day night, September 27th. This two week period is the most important period to appreciate your departed ancestors.
Lord Krishna’s Real Birthday: Get Blessed With Perfect Health, Wealth, Relationship & Youth
“Lots of Krishna Birthdays are celebrated, but this is the real one.” – Dr. Pillai
Krishna Janmashtami is observed on the ashtami or the 8th day of the Krishnapaksha or dark fortnight in the Tamil month of Avani on the Rohini Nakshatra. Janmashtami is also known as Gokulashtami and this year the auspicious day falls on August 21st- 22nd IST.
Janmashtami commemorates the birthday of Lord Krishna, a re-incarnation of Lord Vishnu and offering your fervent prayers to Lord Krishna this Janmashtami will help you gain His instant blessings.
Note: Janmashtami is celebrated from August 21st evening till August 22nd evening India Time. All the rituals will be done in the morning of August 22nd at Astroved temple.
Krishna Reincarnates in Every Yuga
Dr. Pillai Speaks:
“Krishna’s energy is already here. Look what is happening around the world. There is widespread turmoil and unrest and financial industries are collapsing. It is time that Krishna will fix the problems. First there will be destruction, but then peace and prosperity forever.
This birthday of Krishna will clearly demonstrate his presence and power because of its proximity to 2012. Krishna will make sure that the poor people and those who are struggling to make money will soon see abundance. On this day of the 8th Moon and Krishna’s birth star Rohini, He responds to prayers.
When he was here 5000 years ago he provided a paradigm for human living. It is perfect wealth, perfect health, perfect relationship and perfect youth. Perfection, perfection everywhere…. On this day pray for perfect wealth and perfect health. Do not miss this opportunity; otherwise you will have to wait for one more year for his next birthday.
Time lost is opportunity lost! Time is important and you should use the time perfectly and never miss it.
Help Me Use the Time Perfectly
Bhagavatam, which carries the life history of Krishna, describes Krishna’s miracles to save the world and his devotees. He is primarily a miracle maker. One day a poor person brought Krishna a dried grape as an offering to the Lord. Krishna took it from him and put it in his mouth. At the very same time the poor man’s hut became a mansion surrounded by trees and a beautiful lake. This is the power of Krishna. He responds to the call instantaneously. All that you need is the love for him.

Happy Birthday to Lord Ganesha Our Most Accessible Divine Being
Join Us in Celebrating Ganesha’s Birthday! It is the high time of the year that His Full Power and Blessings are available to us and we can connect deeply.
Ganesha is here for us!
Lord Ganesha is considered an accessible “Gate Keeper” God who is very special to humans. He is closer to humans and understands human problems than Lord Shiva, Vishnu or Brahma. He is the “God of the People“!
He sees the un-see-able.
He sees potential blocks or obstacles way ahead of us and can clear them out of the way before they create problems. His 2 consorts, Sidhi and Budhi, represent the power to do things within a very short period of time, and intelligence or discriminatory knowledge respectively.
He has an elephant head.
His head, in part, represents the animal instinct that can process infra sound that is below 20 cycles per second. Just as the animals foresaw the tsunami of 2004 and ran to the hills, Ganesha works in the infra red, foresees your obstacles and has the intelligence to remove them or move through them quickly and painlessly. The elephant has large ears. Ganesha listens to every single prayer to Him.
“Gum” is His mantra.
By chanting this and harmonizing with that vibration, you will develop the ability to process infra sound and the special technology of foresight.
Ganesha is all about effortless creation.
In order to create, something needs to be sacrificed. It is a law of the universe. When a flower is created, the bud is sacrificed. When a meal is created, the ingredients are sacrificed. When Ganesha Himself was ‘born’, he was created from the sacrifice of the dust from Parvati’s body. He was made from matter and is the God of Matter.
Once Ganesha wanted to know what to sacrifice.
The Greatest Lord Shiva, Ganesha’s father, recommended that Ganesha go find the most powerful being as possible. As Shiva is the ultimate, Ganesha asked if He could sacrifice Him! Shiva manifested a coconut out of thin air and instructed that the coconut would be used to represent Him. Shiva is the ultimate sacrifice so sacrificing a coconut is the ultimate sacrifice.
Coconut Smashing is an energizing and freeing act that brings with it a level of fun, much like Lord Ganesha Himself. However it is also a profound and high spiritual technology to smash your obstacles.
Ganesha will sacrifice Himself as well.
He shows us that every creation will eventually come to an end so practise humility. Sacrifice is one of the core principles of Christianity too. God the Father in Heaven sent His own son the Christ to Earth. Christ then sacrificed himself to redeem the humans of their sins.
Karma is transferrable.
He is such a simple deity that an idol or statue can be made from mud or clay by human hands. On Ganesha Chaturthi, clay idols are made in large numbers or varying sizes, for the purpose of sacrificing. First the statues are energized with the consciousness of Ganesha through poojas then submerged and dissolved in the sea. You can sponsor a clay Ganesha and He will be named after you like Linda Ganesha, or Jim Ganesha etc. He will sacrifice to redeem your karmas.
As always, timing is everything.
The 4th Moon is when Ganesha’s energies are available. He and the Moon do not get along. Once, the Moon was too proud of his beauty and insulted Ganesha for having such a physical appearance. In a fury, Lord Ganesha cursed the Moon so that his beauty would fade. The Moon waxes into its full splendor but fades or wanes in cycles. The Moon is debilitated on the 4th Waning Phase. It is the perfect day to worship Ganesha. Just remember that it is important to not look at this Moon as it represents aspect of material nature that causes problems.
Lord Vishnu Takes a Special Bath Before Resting Jyeshta Ekadasi
‘Ekadasi’ is the term for the 11th Moon Phase important to Lord Vishnu. This particular upcoming 11th Moon is also called ‘Hari Sayana Ekadasi‘ as after performing several miracles in the universe, Lord Vishnu reclines on the cosmic serpent Adi Sesha, and falls asleep in the cosmic Ocean of Milk. ‘Hari’ is another name for Vishnu and ‘Sayana’ means sleep.
Jyeshta Ekadasi is the day when the 11th waxing moon coincides on the Jyeshta Nakshatra. Jyeshta is the star ruled by Mercury and Lord Vishnu is the overlord of this planet.
Lord Vishnu, the Sustainer of the Universe, the God of Wealth, suddenly manifested on the lunar day Ekadasi. He is also the ‘Supersoul’ that lives in the heart of all living entities.
For Your Peace and Happiness Jyeshta Ekadasi
Observing this particular Ekadasi, brings blessings for peace and happiness. Pure devotion takes central focus rather than desire or fulfillment, however, Lord Vishnu does bless with a 200% life of balancing material with spiritual boons.
How to Make Lord Vishnu Happy
Vishnu sleeps in the Ocean of Milk. Amrita, the Divine nectar of immortality, and Lakshmi the Goddess of wealth and prosperity who is Vishnu’s consort, both emerged by churning this ocean of milk.
In one of His incarnations as Krishna, Lord Vishnu was brought up by parents who tended cows. He was a cow-herd himself. Milk and ghee were His staple foods in that incarnation.
Milk is the purest of all foods provided by nature and offering it to Lord Vishnu gives great blessings from Him in return.
The Thirukannamangai Temple in Tamil Nadu, is where Vishnu is said to have found and reunited with His Goddess Lakshmi after She incarnated on Earth as a village girl. Lakshmi put a condition on the marriage in that She would only marry Him if He ensured that She will be taken care of materially. Vishnu agreed. In this temple, there is not just one main deity. Lakshmi and Vishnu share the inner sanctum with neither of them being centered.
This represents beautifully the 200% life as Lakshmi here represents the material and Vishnu the ‘Supersoul’ or the spiritual.
After visiting this temple a few weeks ago, Dr. Pillai directed the participation in the performance of this special abishekam be offered to members. Milk is the key ingredient to this special bath on this special day.
What you can do to take full advantage of this special Ekadasi:
- Participate in the Special Abishekam at Thirukannamangai Temple and the Lord Vishnu Fire Ritual at the AstroVed Center
- Chant the mantra for Lord Vishnu
- Observe a fast
- Do some charity

Know These and Consider Them Your Foundation to Use Vedic Astrology to its Full Advantage
1. Find Out Which Planetary Influences are Good and Bad for You
The planets affect us on a mind and body level with their individual gravitational pulls and electro-magnetic fields but also spiritually with their divine energies. It’s vital to know which of the planets is affecting in a beneficial way and also those affecting in an unfavourable or even obstructive way.
If a planet’s position is placed well in your birth chart then it is considered a good planet and it will help you to taste success.
If a planet is not well placed, it is considered a bad planet and it will bring unfavorable results in life during certain periods. It may affect you in a stressful, uncomfortable and even painful ways.
Your Nakshatra or birth star is the constellation the Moon was in at the time of your birth. It is an important key in Vedic Astrology, as it gives a very unique profile of how your mind works. It will be a key indicator of how your good days and bad days will be. There are 27 unique stars in this system.
Vedic Astrology puts more emphasis on your Moon Sign or Rasi than Sun Sign as per Western Astrology. The Moon Sign is based on what sign the Moon was in at the time of your birth. The Sun indicates how the world sees you – the Moon indicates how you see the world.
And Then What?
Proven Vedic technologies from a time where ancient scientists studied the cosmos and experimented with its nature are here to help you unleash your own powerful destiny.
Once you know through planetary reports, which planets to focus on, you can start ‘propitiating’ or developing a peaceful relationship with them through Vedic ritual.
Fire Rituals
Fire is the primordial purifier and transformer. When powerful sounds in the form of sacred mantras, sanctified substances such as Siddha or Ayurvedic herbs and ghee are combined in a ritual, the sound frequencies and chemical exchanges produce an environment conducive to the positive energies that are correct to change your vibration. You will match the vibration of the goal that you desire to reach.

Pooja, Archana, Abishekam
These rituals use light waves, sound frequency and chemical reactions from the statue anointing liquids to induce a connectivity to the energy focused on for your benefit. The energies are ‘awakened’ into action for you and for the world at large.
Timing is Everything
We will often talk about timing being of utmost importance. According to the cosmos, a particular opening will present at particular times (planetary positionings) that is the most beneficial for accessing the energy most desired. Through Astrology, these times are identified and an authentic ritual, as per the sacred texts passed down from the first scientists, is recommended by our team.

Aadi Krithigai 2011 – The Astrological Significance
On this Aadi Krithigai, planet Mars, an overtly aggressive planet is transiting to Gemini which happens to be a dynamic sign. This unusual combination makes the stay of Mars an uncomfortable one; imparting negative influences like over involvement and indulgence in any activity. This will likely have more influence on men especially in their relationships and also in managing things in day to day life. In other words, the net influences of Mars might make one act, without giving a proper thought, resulting in frustrations and failures.
Mars The overlord of Mars is Lord Muruga and propitiating Lord Muruga will please the planet Mars and will protect us from its negative influences. Moreover, Krittika being the birth star of Lord Muruga and also brought up by the 6 Krittika Ladies, has great significance and will protect everyone who worships Lord Muruga on Aadi Krithigai.

Are Your Ancestors Controlling You?
If your finances, relationships, health, business, your peace of mind etc are not progressing how you’d like, consider that it could be interference from your departed ancestors.
Just as your physical is built by your physical DNA, your soul was built by soul genes. Not all of your thinking and doing is what you really want to do. You are conflicted. There is some interference from your soul lineage.
Aadi Amavasya New Moon
Aadi Amavasya is the New Moon in the Tamil month of Aadi. New Moons are the times to set is right with your ancestors. The months of Aadi- July/August- and Thai- January/February, are considered especially Divine Months that the Gods and Goddesses have marked as the months they will most enhance our lives.

This year it falls on a Saturday which is fortunate as any Tarpanam or ritual done to appease your ancestors will be taken into account by Lord Saturn and logged as good karma. Saturn is very vigilant in seeing over the books and it is always good to get in ‘good’ with Saturn!
Think Your Own Thoughts
There is an easy way to end this stalemate and that is to appease, propitiate, restore harmony or re-establish friendly relations with your ancestral energy bank. Tarpanam is the leveller. When you ‘feed’ the souls of the departed, you will be free to think and do for yourself. You will be free from their influence that is old thinking or patterning- antiquated mind-sets.
Consider how your state of mind changes when you are acknowledge and ‘seen’.
Evaluate the Results for Yourself
This is not a new technology but let your own results be your answer to whether this is purely superstition or not.
Learn How to Perform Daily Tarpanam from Dr Pillai
Ancestor Relationship Maintenance
As per the Vedas, Tarpanam is best performed by a Vedic Specialist or priest trained in this on New Moons- especially Aadi Amavasya and Dr. Pillai also recommends doing your own Tarpanam every day to supplement this. All that you need is some black sesame seeds, rice and water.
Transformative Funeral Rites and Departed Ancestor Services
Help your departed ancestors and dears ones for a peaceful crossover which will help you de-mystify and address the concerns of the departed ancestors and dears ones for a peaceful crossover. You can both be at peace knowing the soul has been guided correctly. These are to be done at 2 weeks after their departure.
This Aadi Amavasya Special Fire Ritual

On Saturday, July 30th IST, you can join in a group ‘Thila’ Fire Ritual to be performed in Kerala. This ritual is not well known to many and is known to be very effective in getting aberrant ancestral energies under control and working in your favor by covering the past 8 generations of ancestors. This is the first time that we are offering the performance of this fire ritual for the ancestors.
It is even said that this fire ritual has the power to make up for the omission of doing regular Tarpanam up until now. It involves 12 thousand chants and will remove ‘Pittru Dosha’ and ‘Pitru Sabham’ which is any afflictions caused by them or removes any curses that may have been put on your ancestors that you are paying the price for now.
Your ancestors will be helped to get to the next stage, any of their unfulfilled desires with be fulfilled and you will attain their blessings.
This Aadi Amavasya Poor Feeding

Another important ritual to be done this New Moon is a Feeding for the Poor. Karuppa Swamy is an archetype whose energy is very available on the Earth plane everywhere during this Aadi month. The feeding will be done in his name which is also very effective in removing karma. Karuppa Swamy is the ‘Performer God’ who wields a no nonsense brand of justice and looks out for his people who are the poor, simple and honest folk.

Suryanar Koil- The Heavens on Earth
There is a temple in Tamil Nadu dedicated to the planet Sun- Suryanar Koil. All of the 9 Planets are represented here in individual shrines. What makes this temple so extra special is that all of the planets are depicted without their weapons. They are the benevolent aspects and can bless and counteract any planetary influence put upon you by worshipping here. The planets are our consciousness and Now is the chance to balance your cosmos!
The Cosmos is Our Consciousness
Astronomically speaking, the planets in our Solar System affect the Earth physically with their large electro-magnetic and gravitational field interactions. They have subtler influences as well.
Astrologically, the planets or ‘Grahas’ are all forms of our consciousness. Through their rotations, revolutions and transits through the constellations, they give rise to changes in our natural environment and in our beings.
Vedic Astrology recognises 9 Planets or ‘Navagrahas’(nava = 9) in particular; the Sun, the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu.

Karma and Astrology
Vedic Astrology has a practical application. Humans have a spiritual nature and this was set to use a guide to help us in realizing our true selves. It helps us to realize that each soul is learning its lessons, which can only be learned under specific sets of circumstances. We come to know that astrological prediction comes true because the soul is guided by Higher Beings, or the planets.
The Law of Karma explains the pattern of our lives, starting from birth. Without this Law astrology makes little sense. Vedic astrology includes both the aspect of fate and that of free will. Fate as per Karma means that our present condition is the result of our past actions from previous lives. The outer events of our present life are ruled by past Karma and can be difficult to change. Free will as per Karma means that we shape our future by our present actions.

Karma is Transferrable
Vedic astrology provides proactive ways of dealing with our Karma. Vedic astrology holds that spiritual practices, like remedial rituals, Yoga, prayer and meditation neutralize the effects of a bad or unfavorable astrological chart. Vedic astrology helps us to realize our true self, and helps us to know the divinity of the soul.
It provides a clarification of your Karma. Vedic astrology alleviates what is perhaps the greatest fear for human beings uncertainty and anxiety about the future. It helps us navigate confidently through the confusing waves of Karma, aware of our outer destiny and our inner timeless self as well.
You do not have to be a prisoner of karma as it is transferrable.
9 Planets at Suryanar Koil- No Cursing Only Blessings
For the first time, you can appease the unfavourable and strengthen the favourable planets in your chart at one temple. Suryanar Koil is a temple dedicated to the Sun, but it also has a separate shrine for all of the other planets. The Navagraha idols here are present without weapons depicting their protective aspect. Guru, or Jupiter, is depicted here as offering worship to Surya.
