What is Kala Sarpa Dosha?
Kala Sarpa Dosha is a much feared astrological condition, as reflected in a person’s natal chart. ‘Sarpa’ denotes a snake, and in astrological parlance, it refers to the shadow planets Rahu and Ketu, who are considered to be snake-forms. Rahu and Ketu are regarded as the head and tail of a serpent respectively and are treated as inauspicious.
Kala Sarpa Dosha is an affliction which is said to occur, when all other seven planets – the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn – remain in-between these two planets, in a person’s horoscope. This is as if these planets are ranged on their same side, between the head and tail of a snake, signaling ominous portends.
Effects of Kala Sarpa Dosha
This is an affliction, which may bring harm to the lives of the natives, in more ways than one. Misfortune may plague them in many of their endeavors, even when the planetary positions seem not so unfavorable. These people may somehow stand to lose in their efforts, for reasons, that may be beyond their control or even comprehension!
Symptoms of Kala Sarpa Dosha
While this Dosha is likely to cause trials and tribulations in the life of a person, in general, astrologers believe that this will also reflect in the form of some particular problems. So, even if people are unable to read their horoscopes right and know if they suffer from Kala Sarpa Dosha or not, these issues can thus very well be considered as the symptoms by which, the presence of the Dosha can precisely be identified.
People suffering from Kala Sarpa Dosha may face sleep-related severe problems. They may not be able to fall asleep that easily, and even when they manage to do so, the sleep itself may not be sound, or it may remain disturbed, warranting these people to wake up many times in between. They may also suffer from bad dreams or nightmares, with deadly or poisonous snakes, in their aggressive forms often appearing in them. They may even feel threatened with thoughts that someone hostile is hovering somewhere very close to them, and such feelings may fill them with restlessness, trepidation, and negative thoughts.
There may also be disharmony in families and close relationships, and they may also face severe disagreements and disputes. These conditions may deny them the much-needed peace and tranquility in their personal lives and throw them out of gear. They may also face hostilities, and the number of enemies they have may go up. To cap these all, they may even feel distraught to see much of their sincere efforts and hard work going waste or not receiving due recognition.
But, it is not that bad, after all
But there are astrologers, who do not view Kala Sarpa Dosha in such total negativity and believe that it may not prove all that unproductive or unlucky, after all. The strength of the horoscope can at many times provide the much-needed relief to the natives. When conditions are such that a horoscope reflects a Raja Yoga or has four planets in Digbalam, the positions of strength or when 2/3 planets remain escalated, the severity of the Dosha effects may get minimized, and bring in some solace to the people.
