The significance of Distributing Sesame Seed Sweets
According to Ayurveda, consuming sesame seeds in winter are beneficial to our health. Sesame seeds also have a spiritual significance. They have the ability to absorb and emit Sattva (qualities/attributes) frequencies more than any other oil. Hence, consuming sweets made of sesame seeds on Makara Sankranthi aids in inner purification and improves one’s Sadhana by filling the aura with Sattva frequencies. By distributing these sweets to friends and relatives, sattvikta or Pre-dominance of ‘Sattva’ component is attained in everyone’s soul.
Before the distribution of sesame seed sweets, it is important to offer them to a God or Goddess, so that the divine energy and Chaitanya are retained in the seeds.
